    Full Description:
    Exact description as reads ...

Established in 1877 by President Rutherford B. Hayes, this reservation is situated on the ancestral lands of the Western Shoshone Indians.

The reservation includes 400 square miles in Nevada and Idaho and is home to Northern Paiutes as well.

Peaceful and cooperative, the residents have developed their culture from stone age levels to contemporary America, but many still retain ancient handicraft skills. Most residents are ranchers producing hay, wheat and cattle.

Duck Valley Indian Reservation is governed by the Shoshone-Paiute Tribal Council elected by the residents.

    Here's the interesting part ...
See the blue sign in the left distance? This my friends is the Idaho state line: a mere 300 yards away!

Here's how close the SHPO decided to place the marker...
Standing in Idaho - a view to [151]. The sign directly in front reads "Welcome to Idaho"
Standing right ON the state line. Talk about cutting it close!

    Kudos to this awesome placement!

[151] may be barely within Nevada, but it is still Nevada. Great placement!

Fact #151: The name "Owyhee" derived from a white man's tongue-twisting of the word Hawaii.
