N39° 15' 52.3" W119° 38' 22.7"
Date Conquered: 5/15/08 Quick Description: A marker honoring a nostalgic schoolhouse funded by the Comstock Lode. Signed: No -- This marker is one of the newest additions to the marker system (added as of 2008.) (Unfortunately, no signs were ever erected.) NOTES: I realize the above directions seem very vague, but they're the most accurate I can give to you, considering all of the streets in Silver City are lightly signed. Locals know this location as "the Park." All you have to do is ask where it is. A well done renovation of the old schoolhouse! This is a beautiful building, well deserving of an Historic Marker! Kudos to the SHPO for this one. Full Description: Exact description as reads ... Notice the dirt landscaping, taken in 2008. Unfortunately, progress has been slow in renovating the old schoolhouse due to the lack of funding. Everything has been done through volunteer work by donations. What you see has been done over the past three years. Obviously, there is much more work yet to be done!
