Recent Updates

Here's a list of what's recently been done to Nevada-Landmarks... just so you don't miss anything!

We're #1!
* As of January 2010, Nevada-Landmarks has placed #1 in Google, and #3 on major search engines for Nevada Historical Markers! (Yes, the SHPO is no longer the top spot) Once again, thank you for choosing me, AND your dedication to preserving Nevada's heritage. *

So, What's New?
As of Jan 26, 2009...

  • Did you know I am on Facebook? Look for me, and send a hello!
  • Minor revision of text for the Washoe Markers. In the process of adding another MIA (unfortunately). Details of this one will be up soon, as I'm still looking into what exactly happened to this MIA...
  • A few changes made to my "Related Links" page, including the addition of a few new links! Seems like Nevada-Landmarks is getting around, and becoming even more popular statewide. Thank you!

Projects I'm working on for 2010...

    • "Markers by Roadtrip!" Ever wanted to do a marker hunt along US 50? Or maybe US 95? Well, this year you'll be able to explore Nevada Landmarks by a whole new route (no pun intended): selectable by roadtrips along major Nevada highways! Find other fascinating history, road quirks, attractions and things to do along the route as well. This is a MAJOR project, so it will take time to create maps, gather information and take pictures. Thanks for your patience!
    • "Highway Catalog" Over the past 3 years, I've gotten considerable emails by road buffs nationwide, fascinated in not just Nevada's historical markers, but by Nevada's roads in general! To meet this high demand, I will be creating a series of pages, cataloging Nevada's state highways, US routes and Interstates, including major roads paved and unpaved that are of great interest. This is purely for road buffs only, but any proud Nevadan will surely enjoy this catalog. Included will be precise mileages, road lengths, beginning and ending termini, attractions, notes, supplemental photos, and other things that will wet your knowledge whistle. Because of the great detail in this catalog, this will be a work in progress, divided by county (and many calls to NDOT!).

Please note...
To answer MANY of your emails regarding this topic, UNFORTUNATELY, I WILL NOT BE creating a separate "ghost towns only" website. Why? There are many GREAT websites covering just this subject, all of which are extremely detailed and all of which are just as passionate. However, I'm not done yet...
Remember, I do have my professional photography covering this subject through my Sierra Life Photography. Plus, in 2011, I will be creating a new website titled "Silver State Towns", a vast and extensive catalog and photography collection covering EVERY town in Nevada, past AND present. I will personally visit each one with the same great detail I've put into my historical markers, dates, notes, mileages, etc. For past towns, a bit of history will definitely incur, but won't overwhelm the site visitor. Obviously, this is a huge venture, so I will be tackling this project while I'm on my photo hunts. You will thoroughly enjoy this one. All I ask, is for a little patience =)

You know what to look for!
