    Location: 1
    Visibility: 3
    Accessibility: 2
    Marker type: St (Mini)

    Date Conquered: 7/24/07
Quick Description: An example of a stately Nevada mansion, built in the heart of what would become Reno.
Signed: No -- Historically, this marker was never signed.

NOTES: The SHPO lists the directions for #227 as follows: "at the intersection of South Virginia Street and Kietzke Lane just south of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center." Well let me tell you that these directions are nowhere close to Lake Mansion! In fact, without the help of a fellow marker hunter, I would've never found it. To find the mansion, you must drive north in the opposite direction of Kietzke and Virginia toward the downtown district of Reno. Access Arlington Avenue to Court Street and the mansion will be on your left. As always, parking could be a challenge. Just be sure to obey the strict 15MPH speed limit around this neighborhood.

    Full Description:
    Exact description as reads ...

Home of Myron C. Lake, founder of Reno, this structure was built in 1877 by Washington J. Marsh. Entrant: National Register of Historic Places.

#227, Lake Mansion, sits in the shadow of Reno's downtown high-rises.

** The Lake Mansion is a PRIVATE residence, open to the public only via appointment or special events **
